Hashim Amla leads South Africa to dominant win over West Indies

South Africa have moved to the top of the Tri-Series table after an emphatic 139-run victory over the West Indies in St Kitts.

The Proteas began the fixture behind both Wednesday’s opponents and Australia but they dominated from start to finish after an 182-run opening stand between Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock.

Amla was first to go for 110 off 99 balls before De Kock soon followed for 71, but the runs continued to flow with Chris Morris hitting a quick-fire 40 and Faf du Plessis adding an excellent 73 off 50 deliveries.

South Africa eventually posted 343-4 off their 50 overs and although West Indies made a promising start, wickets fell at regular intervals and Johnson Charles‘s knock of 49 was the only score above 30 during the innings.

Imran Tahir inflicted the bulk of the damage to the West Indies batting lineup, registering figures of 7-45 to leave their hosts well short of the run-rate and target.

Wayne Parnell and Tabraiz Shamasi chipped in with the other dismissals but Tahir stole the show by taking the remaining six wickets to leave his team one point clear at the top of the standings.
