Hassan Sulaiman: There is no reason why I cannot succeed at Chelsea

Coach of Chelsea U-18 team Hassan Sulaiman has tipped himself for success at the club as he sees no reason why he will fail.

The Anglo-Nigerian coach was appointed to his new role on March 10, 2023 as replacement for Ed Brand who left the London outfit for Swindon Town.

After few months on the job which has placed him in charge of Chelsea U-18 team which has compatriots Tudor Mendel-Idowu, Somto Boniface, Chinonso Chibueze, Tyrique George and Louis Flower among his charges, Sulaiman has flourished on the Job and is looking forward to even more.

His young Blues scored 20 goals and won five of the last eight games of the 2022/2023 season, dominating opponents and playing in compact shape which has improved his rating in a time where black coaches are not trusted with top jobs.

“We have seen Darren Moore get promoted at Sheffield Wednesday, and Andy Myers succeed as the development squad head coach here at Chelsea,” Sulaiman said to Chelsea’s official website.

“There is no reason why I cannot succeed and achieve great things in this role.

“The focus is on the players and putting them in the best position to succeed at the club. It is an honour to be in this role and I will do everything in my power to see our players realise their potential.” he said.

On his plans for the 2023/2024 season which will be his first full year in charge as Head Coach of the Chelsea U-18 team, Sulaiman promised to buid a team that will dominate games and stay top.

” We want to dominate games and stay on top. We have a lot of pace and power, and we want to utilise these strengths going forward, ” he added.

” In the last few games, we started to see what myself, Jimmy Smith, Andy Ross and the rest of the coaching staff had been communicating to the players.

“This togetherness and trust in each other will ensure that we see growth in this group.” Sulaiman said.
