Heartland FC win first-game of the season, Doma keep tenth cleansheet to hold Kwara United, NPFL results for December 6, 2023

Heartland FC won their first game of the 2023/2024 NPFL season while Doma United FC kept their tenth cleansheet to headline NPFL matches played on Wednesday, December 6, 2023.

Imo State Government funded, Heartland FC had gone eleven games without defeat ahead of the week-12 clash vs Bendel Insurance FC.

Under the tutelage of two-time NPFL title winning coach for his third game in charge, Kennedy Boboye, Heartland FC defeated Bendel Insurance FC 1-0, thanks to a 51st goal scored by Austin Osayande.

With the victory, Heartland FC will move above Bayelsa United FC to 19th place, at least until the latter completes their week 12 engagement.

In Illorin, Doma United FC kept their tenth cleansheet of the season to hold Kwara United FC to a 0-0 draw.

Doma United goalkeeper, Osayi Kingdom thus achieved a record setting eight straight clean-sheet, a new record in the Nigerian league.

At the Umuahia Township Stadium, Nwabueze P. struck a late equalizer for Abia Warriors to force a 1-1 draw and share of the spoils with visiting Sporting Lagos FC who had led through a Naibe Akpeshiri first-half strike.

Plateau United FC scraped past a resillient Enugu Rangers FC team 2-1 in Jos.

A game that had cross-strings as both coaches were up against their former clubs while match-winner Olawale Doyeni left Rangers to join Plateau United FC in the last transfer window.

Adikwu M. handed Plateau United the lead after three minutes before Chukwudi Nwaodu leveled scores for Rangers in the fifteenth minute.

Defender, Olawale Doyeni was at the right place at the right time to head home the winning goal for Plateau United FC deep into stoppage time to deny coach Fidelis Ilechukwu a point on his return to Jos.

Sunshine Stars defeated Shooting Stars 1-0, same scoreline, Kano Pillars FC registered vs Akwa United FC at the Sani Abacha Stadium.

Lobi Stars FC defeated Gombe United FC 1-0 to go level on 23-points with table-toppers, Remo Stars who forced Niger Tornadoes to a 0-0 draw in Kaduna.
