Henderson close to Ajax switch

An Ajax delegation has reportedly traveled to Manchester for discussions with Jordan Henderson’s representatives as they aim to finalize a potential contract for the former Liverpool captain.

According to Sky Sports, Ajax is willing to present Henderson with an 18-month deal, including the option of extending it for an additional year, though the duration may be subject to negotiation.

The Dutch club is keen to expedite the process and, if the talks prove successful, intends to promptly arrange a medical examination for Henderson, aiming to have him registered and available for selection as early as the upcoming weekend.

Ajax is scheduled to face RKC Waalwijk in the Eredivisie on Sunday and believes that the addition of Henderson to their squad could bolster their campaign for European qualification in the remaining months of the season.

Earlier reports indicated that Al Ettifaq had agreed to terminate Henderson’s contract, paving the way for a move from Saudi Arabia. Henderson, under the coaching of former Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard, made 19 appearances for Al Ettifaq.

During his time as Liverpool captain, led the club to numerous titles, including the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, and the Community Shield. His experience and leadership qualities make him an attractive prospect for clubs seeking to strengthen their squads
