Henin says Sinner still has more to show despite Indian Wells Title

Jannik Sinner may have cruised to the Indian Wells Open title, but former world No. 1 Justine Henin believes the Italian hasn’t even reached his peak.

Sinner won the tournament without dropping a set, beating Daniil Medvedev in straight sets in the final.

“Jannik Sinner didn’t necessarily impress me,” she said. “And that’s what’s actually quite worrying.”

Rather than criticizing his performance, Henin’s point was that Sinner still looks like he has another level to reach. Even in tight moments, especially in the final, she felt he was always in control.

“I had the feeling he still has a gear left… you wonder when he’s going to push the accelerator a little harder,” she added.

Henin praised his composure and match management, noting how calm and in control he remained under pressure. But she also suggested that she has seen him play at an even higher level before.

“I found him quite brilliant throughout the tournament in terms of management, but in terms of play, I’ve seen him more convincing.”
