Heroes´ welcome for back to back champions All Blacks
Rugby World Cup champions New Zealand received a heroes’ welcome on their return home on Wednesday.
The All Blacks landed at Auckland Airport before being welcomed by fans at Victoria Park.
Coach Steve Hansen and captain Richie McCaw paraded the Webb Ellis Cup, won with a 34-17 victory over Australia in Saturday’s final.
Both were thankful for the support their team had received.
“It’s an honour and privilege just to be part of the All Blacks,” Hansen told a delighted crowd.
“But to be able to put a smile on everyone’s faces in this country is an honour and privilege as well.
“From all of us, we’d like to thank you for the support you’ve given us.”
New Zealand became the first team to win back-to-back World Cups with their triumph at Twickenham.
The All Blacks were undefeated throughout the tournament as they took the title for a record third time.
