History-making Nigerian coach interested in becoming Super Eagles new coach

Ndubuisi Emmanuel Egbo made history when he led KF Tirana to the Albanian league title to become the first African coach to win a major European league title.

Following the exit of Jose Peseiro ,the former Nigerian goalkeeper has expressed his interest in taking up the vacant coaching role with the Super Eagles.

In an interview with Channels TV, Egbo emphasized his Nigerian heritage and his eagerness to contribute to the development of Nigerian football.

He highlighted his belief in Nigeria’s potential to challenge for the World Cup and stated his willingness to help elevate the country’s footballing status.

Egbo’s coaching journey began as a goalkeeper coach before he eventually ascended to the role of manager at KF Tirana, where he led the team to the Albanian league title in the 2019/2020 season, ending an 11-year championship drought.

Having earned 12 caps for the Super Eagles during his playing career and participated in two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, Egbo brings a wealth of experience to the table. His success as a coach, both domestically and internationally, further strengthens his credentials for the Super Eagles coaching position.

Currently in charge of Kosovo side Prishtina, Egbo did not rule out the possibility of taking on the Nigeria job in the future if approached.

“It is my country, I’m 100% Nigerian even though I have a European passport,” Egbo told Channels TV in an interview.

“Anytime I’m called upon to come and help, to raise the football of my country up because I am expecting Nigeria one day to be challenging to win the World Cup, which we have not done for a long time now.”

“So, I’m always open; we can never say never to our country,” he stated about the possibility of managing the Nigerian job if offered.

“It’s like a military service that anytime we are called upon we have to do it for our country,” the 50-year old added.
