Hoffenheim offer Gift Orban path away from Lyon bench

German Bundesliga club Hoffenheim are in advanced discussions with French Ligue 1 side Lyon to sign Nigerian striker Gift Orban.

Orban, 22, has been linked with several European clubs due to his struggles at Lyon. He joined Lyon in January this year when the club was battling relegation in Ligue 1. However, he has struggled to make an impact, playing only 13 times last season, mostly as a substitute.

This season, Orban has made just five appearances and scored two goals, but he has often not been included in the matchday squad.

It looks like the Nigerian striker is now set for a fresh start, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reporting that Hoffenheim are in advanced talks to bring him to the Bundesliga.

Hoffenheim have had a tough season in the Bundesliga, with three wins, five losses, and six draws. They sacked their former coach, Pellegrino Matarazzo, in November after a string of poor results. Despite the appointment of Christian Ilzer as the new manager, their form has not improved, and they have not won any of their last six matches.

Hoffenheim have struggled to score goals this season, with just 19 goals. As a result, they are looking to strengthen their attack, and they hope Orban can help improve their goal-scoring record.
