House Committee Chief urges Super Eagles to secure maximum points against Libya
Honourable Kabiru Amadu, the new Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Sports, has challenged the Super Eagles to aim for all six points in their upcoming AFCON double-header qualifiers against Libya.
The Super Eagles will face the Mediterranean Knights in the first leg of the qualifiers on Friday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, followed by a return leg in Benghazi, Libya, on Tuesday next week.
Speaking ahead of the fixtures, Amadu, who represents Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency in Zamfara State, expressed confidence in the Super Eagles’ ability to secure victories in both matches, citing their quality and previous performances.
“I have no doubt that the boys will make us proud against Libya, especially considering the way they played in the last round of matches,” he said. “I was impressed with their performance against Benin Republic in Uyo, and even the draw against Rwanda in Kigali showed a lot of promise.”
Amadu encouraged the team to build on their recent form, urging them to step up their performance. “I am expecting them to raise the bar this Friday and continue from where they left off in the last round of games.”
He also reaffirmed the support of the National Assembly, saying, “I want the players to know that as lawmakers, we fully back them. The Speaker of the House, Honourable Tajudeen Abbas, is always rooting for them to make Nigerians proud.”
Nigeria currently tops Africa Cup of Nations Qualification Group D with four points from two matches, heading into the crucial tie against Libya.
