How serious is the Injury Victor Osimhen suffered during Galatasaray vs Kasimpasa?

With the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers fast approaching, Nigeria’s national team may face a significant concern as star striker Victor Osimhen’s fitness is in question following an injury during Galatasaray’s 3-3 draw against Kasimpasa in the Turkish Super Lig.

Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray on loan after a controversial exit from Napoli, showcased his brilliance by scoring twice in the match, finally getting off the mark for the Turkish giants. However, his joy was cut short when he was forced to leave the pitch at halftime due to an injury scare.

Osimhen Opens His Galatasaray Account

In a thrilling encounter, Osimhen scored his first goal for Galatasaray in the 20th minute with a simple finish from an Abdulkerim Bardakcı cross. Just minutes later, the Nigerian striker doubled his tally in spectacular fashion, swivelling inside the box and firing a stunning volley into the roof of the net, putting his team 2-0 ahead.

However, despite a dominant start, Galatasaray squandered their lead as Kasimpasa mounted a comeback to secure a 3-3 draw.

Injury Worry for Nigeria as Osimhen Limps Off

Shortly before halftime, Osimhen clashed with Kasimpasa goalkeeper Andreas Gianniotis and signaled to the bench that he could not continue. The Super Eagles forward was substituted at halftime, raising concerns about his availability for Nigeria’s upcoming AFCON qualifiers.

Nigeria Super Eagles injured players

Reports suggest that Osimhen felt pain following the challenge and will undergo further evaluation to determine the severity of the injury. Early indications suggest that the injury may not be too severe, but more details will emerge after medical assessments.

AFCON Qualifiers in Jeopardy?

Nigeria will face a crucial double-header against Libya on October 11th and 15th as part of the AFCON qualification campaign. Osimhen, a key figure for the Super Eagles, has scored 22 goals in just 35 appearances for the national team, and his absence would be a major blow to Nigeria’s hopes of securing qualification.
