“I am tired!”- Asisat Oshoala explodes in frustration

Super Falcons captain ruled out for up to 10 weeks

Asisat Oshoala has triggered a variety of reactions from the football world following a since-deleted cryptic post on her Twitter account in which she rued her recent ill-luck.

Asisat Oshoala, who is the top scorer of the Liga Iberdrola, Spain’s female top-flight league for FC Barcelona Femeni made the trip to Abuja with the Super Falcons for their 2022 AWCON double-header against the Lady Elephants of Ivory Coast.

The pacy striker, however, did not kick a ball for the Super Falcons before suffering a tear to her biceps femoris muscle in training, ruling her out of action for at least the next 10 weeks.

While her fellow Super Falcons took to the field and eventually defeated Ivory Coast 2-0 thanks to a brace from NJ/NY Gotham FC striker Ifeoma Onumonu, Oshoala posted a disturbing tweet on her official twitter account.

The striker only recovered from a posterior cruciate Ligament injury that kept her out since November. Since her return, she has scored six goals in four games and sits atop the league’s goalscoring chart with 19 goals for FC Barcelona Femeni. The nearest competitors to her for the top scorers gong are Madrid CFF’s Geyse Ferreira and teammate Lieke Martens, both of whom have 16 goals this season.

Asisat Oshoala is known to have fallen into a state of depression in 2015 when she had some serious problems with mental health, sharing suicidal thoughts.

“I’m tired of life, I want to leave already,” she wrote in one of her posts back then.

The 27-year-old Super Falcons star lost her step-mother in 2021, and this has left a lot of her fans worried about her mental state, especially with the added issues caused by her recent injury woes. Fans have expressed their hopes that Super Zee, as Asisat Oshoala is fondly known, would get the support she needs to get through this tough spell in her career.
