Super Eagles of Nigeria goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali has hinted that he might leave Chippa United this summer because he wants to grow.
Stanley Nwabali has been getting attention from clubs in other countries since February and so with the summer transfer business set to begin in Europe.
Nwabali became very popular in January when he helped Nigeria reach the final of the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
The 27-year-old goalkeeper kept four clean sheets in seven games for the Super Eagles and saved two penalties in a shoot-out against South Africa in the quarterfinals.
At his club, Chippa United, Nwabali was also impressive. He kept eleven clean sheets in 26 Premier League games.
In recognition of his outstanding performances, clubs from other countries are interested in him. Saudi Pro League club Al Ettifaq, English Championship team QPR, and South African club Kaizer Chiefs have all shown interest.
The South African season ended on Saturday, with Chippa United losing 2-0 to Orlando Pirates. After the game, Nwabali hinted about his future plans.
The 27-year-old goalkeeper said he wants to grow and might leave Chippa United this summer to achieve that target.
“Well, everyone would love to leave because when you are in some position, you need to grow,” Nwabali said.
“Like everyone in my position would like to grow more. I’m talking about clubs higher than this [bigger than Chippa United] because I have been giving my all to my club this season. I just wish to have another challenge at some other place.”
Nwabali hopes to find a new club soon so he can focus on his future. But first, he will play in the World Cup qualifiers with the Super Eagles against Benin and South Africa.
