Ighalo believes Morroco can upset Portugal to reach historic World Cup Semi-final

Morroco will have support from the African continent to upset Portugal and reach the Semi-final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo believes Morroco can get the job done against a star studded Portugal team to become the first African nation to reach the Semi-final of a World Cup.

With names like Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva, Pepe etc, Portugal are tipped as favourites to progress but for Al Hilal forward Ighalo, anything can happen.

The former Manchester United forward told the Athletic ” Against Portugal (in the Quater-final) it’s going to be tough (for Morroco) but in football, anything can happen,”

“Names don’t play football — if you work hard and give everything on the field you have every chance to get through, so one mistake could cost any team.

” So I wish Morocco all the best, but as an African, I hope the best side wins.” Ighalo concluded.

Morroco will today (Saturday December 10) take on Portugal in the third Quarter-final match of the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The match will be played at the Al Thurmama Stadium in Qatar with kick-off billed for 4pm (Nigerian time).

Uruguayan Referee Facundo Tello will take charge of the game.

The other Quater-final game will see defending champions France continue their title defence against England.

That game will kick-off by 8pm.
