Ighalo brace fires Al Hilal past Al Fahya to keep title hopes alive

Odion Ighalo bagged a brace to fire Saudi Arabia Pro League title chasing Al Hilal to a 0-2 win over Al Fahya on Tuesday April 4.

The Nigerian forward has now scored four goals in his last two games for , Ighalo scored both goals as Al hilal beat Al Khaleej in their last Saudi Arabia Pro League game.

Against Al Fahya, Ighalo opened the scoring with a neat strike in the additional minutes of the first half to gift Al Hilal a 0-1 advantage at the break.

The current league champions returned for the second half pushing for more goals but it did not come until stoppage time.

Again, it was Odion Ighalo who found the back of the net for 0-2. That was enough to seal a third consecutive win for Al Hilal who sit third on the Saudi Arabia Pro League table.

Al Hilal (3rd) trail Al Nassr (2nd) and Al Ittihad (1st) with a seven and eight points margin respectively, having played a game less than the top two.

With 8-weeks to the end of the current season, Al Hilal are condemned to winning every game if their slim hopes of retaining the league title must come to reality.

Aside the title chase, Odion Ighalo is also in the race for the league’s top-scorer award.

His brace vs Al Fahya takes his tally to 16-goals, level with Al Nassr ‘s Talisca who also bagged a brace in his sides 0-5 win today.

Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is also in the race for the top-scorer award.

Ronaldo scored a brace on Tuesday to take his tally to 11-goals , five short of teammate Talisca and Ighalo who are currently joint top-scorers in the Saudi Arabian Pro League.
