Ighalo hat-trick fires Al Wedha to victory over Al Khaleej
Nigerian striker, Odion Ighalo scored a hat-trick to fire Al Wedha SC to a 3-1 victory over Al Khaleej SC in the Saudi Arbian Pro League on Saturday, November 25.
Before the game, Ighalo had been on a drought but was all-perfect to help lead Al Wehda SC to victory.
Ighalo opened the scoring as early as the third minute via asisst by Abdulaziz Noor to put Al Wehda in front at the King Abdul Azziz Stadium.
Visiting Al Khaleej responded with an equalizer in the 22nd minute, a penalty kick, converted by Fabio Martins.
Half-time arrived with scores level 1-1 and the hosts in desperate search of a breakthrough.
In the 58th minute, Ighalo bagged his 2nd of the game to restore Al Wehda’s lead when he finished of a pass from Saeed Al-Muwallad.
The former Manchester United FC man wrapped things up in the 80th minute from the penalty spot for his hat-trick to put Al Wedha 3-1 up.
After a man-of-the-match worthy performance, Ighalo was taken off for Yousef Al-Harbi in stoppage time.
It finished 3-1 in favour of Al Wedha SC who move to 8th place on the standings with 19-points from 14-games this season while Al Khaleej occupy 14th position on the standings.
With the hat-trick, 2019 Africa Cup of Nations top-scorer, Odion Ighalo has now scored eight goals for Al Wedha SC whom he joined last summer as a free agent.
Ighalo will be back in action when Al Wehda takes on Al Raed in their next league fixture scheduled for Saturday, December 2, 2023.
