Manchester United Striker, Odion Jude Ighalo has announced his exit from the club after he penned an emotional message to the club’s fans expressing his thanks and pride to have been able to feature at Old Trafford for his boyhood club. The 31 year old retired from international football after the 2019 African Cup of Nations, in which he won the tournament’s Golden Boot as the Super Eagles finished in third place.
Ighalo grew up in Lagos as a Manchester United fan and in January 2019, was signed on a short-term loan deal as a striking cover by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer following a series of injury problems. Ighalo made 7 starts for the Red Devils, scoring 5 goals including a stunner in the Europa League against LASK Linz. He’s now set to return to his Chinese club, Shanghai Shenhua. Ighalo is the only Nigerian to ever represent Manchester United and also the only one to ever score for the club.
