Ighalo scores 10th league goal of the season as Al Wedha bow to Al Ittihad

Nigerian striker Odion Jude Ighalo scored his 10th Saudi Arabian Pro League goal of the season as Al Wedha bowed to a 2-1 loss at Al Ittihad on Monday.

A game that brought mixed emotions for the former Manchester United manas he reached double goal figures in the league this season but failed to get a point for his side at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.

It was Odion Ighalo who broke the deadlock just after the half-hour mark, to the surprise of the home crowd.

That goal looked destined to bag Al Wedha maximum points until a dramatic turnaround for the hosts inspired by former Algerian international Hamdallah.

Hamdallah scored the equalizer in the 84th minute from the penalty spot before winning the game for ten-man Al Ittihad when he finished off Karim Benzema’s assist for 2-1 and victory for the reigning Saudi Pro League champions.

With the recent result, Odion Ighalo’s Al Wedha SC occupy ninth place on the standings with 35 points from 21 matches while Al Ittihad are in 5th place with 37 points.
