Iheanacho sets English Football record with the help of VAR

Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has set a British Football record with his second goal for Leicester City against Fleetwood in their FA Cup third round reply on Tuesday.

The former Manchester City striker scored three goals on the night, one counted with ease, the other two were disallowed but one eventually overturned.

Kelechi Iheanacho put his side up in the first half after controlling a pass from Islam Slimani with the outside of his foot before putting the ball in between the goalkeeper.

He scored another goal in the second half after finishing off a good team play but was ruled out for offside, few minutes after the disallowed goal Iheanacho scored another goal off a good pass from Mahrez but was again ruled out for offside.

The referee who thought the ball should have stood consulted the Video Asistant Referee who revealed that the Iheanacho was on and that the goal should stay.

Referee John Moss who already disallowed the goal based on the lines man judgement counted the goal.

It was the first time in English football that a goal initially disallowed would be overturned.
