Puel: Iheanacho showed great quality in Leicester City 2-0 win over Fleetwood

Leicester City manager Claude Puel has lauded Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho for his fantastic all-round display against Fleetwood in their FA Cup third round replay at the Kings Power Stadium on Tuesday.

The former Manchester City striker who arrived the 2016 Premier League champions on a club record deal has had a bad start to his career at Leicester that he has been rumoured to be on his way out till his fantastic display on Tuesday.

Kelechi Iheanacho has been injured for the most part of the first half of the season and when fit he was rarely used. Claude Puel who hinted at his sale for a cut-down price and recently criticised the Nigerian striker asking him to improve if he must remain at Leicester City was ecstatic about the 21-year-old display on Wednesday.

“Kelechi showed a good attitude, worked hard for his teammates and got between the lines. His first goal showed a lot of quality and the second was a fantastic move between him and Mahrez.”

Kelechi Iheanacho scored both goals as Leicester City overcome stubborn Fleetwood to move into the fourth round, he also put his name on the history books with his second goal of the night by becoming the first player to be awarded a goal with the help of VAR after the goal had been disallowed.
