Ike Shorunmu joins Abia Warriors FC
Ex Nigerian International Ike Shorunmu has joined NPFL club Abia Warriors FC, the club announced in a statement on Monday August 21, 2023.
The former Super Eagles goaltender, Ike Shorunmu has joined the Nigeria Professional Football League clubs Technical crew as the new goalkeepers coach.
The Ogun state born shot stopper was unveiled at the club’s Secretariat in Umuahia by the Chairman of Abia Warriors, Coach John Obuh in a brief ceremony witnessed by members of management board.
On the choice of Ike Shorunmu as Abia Warriors FC goalkeepers Coach, Club Chairman John Obuh said his vast experience and antecedents were key.
Obuh expressed hope that his addition will be a big influence for the club as they prepare for the 2023/2024 football season.
Reacting to his appointment, Shorunmu said he settled for Abia Warriors based on personal conviction and expressed confidence that the team will achieve greater success this season.
Shorunmu has since retirement from active football served as goalkeeping coach for clubs and the Nigeria Super Eagles team.
