In-form Nigerian striker, Victor Boniface has won the German Bundesliga rookie of the month award for October 2023. SportsRation reports.
22-year old Boniface now hits a hat-trick of Bundesliga rookie of the month award wins having previously clinched the award in August and September, 2023.
The striker joined Leverkusen from Belgian club, Royale Union Saint Gilloloise in the summer and has been instrumental to their excellent start to the season.
To win the rookie award for the third time in a row, Boniface swept away challenge from RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons, and Mainz 05’s Brajan Grud.
PSG loanee, Xavi Simmons has been in fine form for Die Roten Bullen this season.
For Germany U-21 international, Brajan Gruda, his form in October was key to the revival at Mainz very poor start to the season.
Just yesterday, Boniface struck the match-winner as Leverkusen defeated Qarabag in the UEFA Europa League.
The forward has scored eleven goals already this season and will take the October rookie of the month award as another recognition of his achievements with Xavi Alonso’s men who sit top of the German Bundesliga standing.
Boniface has been included in the Super Eagles squad by Jose Peseiro, alongside club teammate, Nathan Tella, for the November 2023 International break .
Nigeria will face Lesotho and Zimbabwe on November 16th and 19th to kickstart their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification journey.
