Injury-hit Flying Eagles battle Ukraine for place in knockout rounds of U20 World Cup
The Flying Eagles will tonight battle Group D leaders Ukraine for a place in the knockout rounds of the U20 World Cup in Poland but they will be without two starters, Jamilu Mohammed and Valentine Ozornwafor, who are injured.
Kano Pillars defensive midfielder Mohammed has been ruled out of the World Cup after he was injured in the loss to USA, while central defender Ozornwafor is nursing a groin injury and will not be available tonight.
Ukraine have already qualified for the next round of the competition after they won their first two matches.
Nigeria are second on the table thanks mainly to their 4-0 win over Qatar on the opening day of action in this group.
The Flying Eagles could get to the Round of 16 either as winners, runners-up or third-best losers.
A win or a draw tonight will most likely lift them to the knockout stage after hosts Poland finished third in Group A with 4 points, same as Ecuador in Group B.
Tonight’s match will kick off 7.30pm in Nigeria.
