Israel Adesanya targets knockout against Dricus du Plessis at UFC 305

Nigerian former champion Israel Adesanya is gearing up to reclaim his middleweight title with a dramatic knockout victory at UFC 305.

The fight will see him face South African grappler Dricus du Plessis, who currently holds the belt.

Adesanya, known as ‘The Last Stylebender,’ made a name for himself with an impressive kickboxing career before transitioning to MMA. He enjoyed an unbeaten streak in the UFC and secured the middleweight championship. However, he lost the title to Sean Strickland, who later was defeated by du Plessis. Now, Adesanya is aiming to regain his crown with a knockout win over du Plessis.

In a recent interview, Adesanya shared his strategy for dealing with du Plessis’s grappling prowess:

“Dricus du Plessis fights in a particular way that brings him success, but it also makes him vulnerable. When you face someone as precise and lethal as me, highlights are inevitable. I don’t chase them; they just happen,” Adesanya said.

He continued, “I expect him to go for a takedown right away. I don’t think he’ll want to stand and strike with me for too long. People often overlook my wrestling skills, but I’ve proven I can wrestle effectively. It’s part of what made me a world champion.”

UFC 305 is set to showcase a high-stakes showdown as Adesanya aims to make a triumphant return to the top of the middleweight division.
