Italy create history with Euro 2020 opener win against Turkey

Italy have created a history after securing a 3-0 win against Turkey in the Euro 2020 opening game on Friday.

The Italian Azzuris were the best team at the Stade Olympico and they made their favourite tag count.

The first 45 minutes didn’t provide any goal as Turkey defended in their numbers but failed to find the pocket and space to create something for the strikers.

Although they had three penalty calls but all the calls fell to the deaf hear of the Dutch referee Danny Makkelie.

At the start of the second half, in attempt to get something out of the game, Cengiz Under was subbed on for Yusuf Yazici.

The substitution and tactics looked to have negative impact on Turkey as they lost their shape and allowed Italy the space they never got in the first half.

Soon, the Azzurri drew the first blood after Juventus defender Merih Demiral scored an own goal.

It became two when Ciro Immobile scored a poacher goal. The Lazio captain provided assist as Napoli captain Lorenzo Insigne scored Italy’s third with a bender.

It was the first time ever that Italy would be scoring three goals at the Euros having played 38 games without scoring up to three goals.

The win also extended their unbeaten run to 28 games and it secured their ninth consecutive wins.
