John Cena announces entry into 2025 Elimination Chamber, vows to become 17-Time Champion
Fresh off his heartbreaking Royal Rumble defeat, the 16-time WWE Champion has officially announced that he will compete in the 2025 Elimination Chamber, aiming for a record-breaking 17th world title at WrestleMania 41.
WWE confirmed Cena’s decision with a tweet on Sunday, February 2, 2025:
“@JohnCena just announced that he will be competing in this year’s Elimination Chamber Match to secure a path towards an opportunity to become a 17-time champ at #WrestleMania41!”
Cena’s Final Chapter?
During the Royal Rumble post-show, Cena addressed the media, reflecting on his legendary career and his burning desire to make history.
“In the 23 years I’ve been in this business, I know there are different perspectives about my path. But my truth is that I haven’t taken a spot I didn’t earn. Tonight, as I stood in that ring, it hit me – this was my last Royal Rumble. And now, I know that Las Vegas will be my last WrestleMania.”
Cena also made it clear that he wasn’t just looking for a farewell tour—he was coming back to reclaim his place at the top.
“The last time I main-evented WrestleMania was 2013. That’s a long time ago. I’ve been a gimmick, I’ve been the opener, I’ve been in the middle of the card. I’ve done what’s best for business. But now, what’s best for business is me main-eventing WrestleMania… and winning my 17th Championship.”
The Road to WrestleMania Runs Through the Chamber
The Elimination Chamber will be Cena’s toughest test yet, as he battles five other superstars for a shot at WrestleMania 41’s main event. With younger, hungrier competitors looking to take his spot, Cena will need to summon every bit of his veteran instinct and resilience to outlast the field.
He also confirmed that he would briefly return to his acting commitments in Hungary before making his highly anticipated comeback for the Elimination Chamber match.
With history on the line, can John Cena overcome the odds and cement himself as WWE’s most decorated champion? The Road to WrestleMania just got a lot more exciting.
