John Utaka hails Akor Adams work ethic at Montpellier

Former Nigeria International, John Utaka has hailed the work ethic of Super Eagles hopeful, Akor Adams who plays for French Ligue 1 club, Montpellier.

Utaka, himself a former Montpellier player is impressed with the striker’s ability to intelligently adapt to his new surounding as well as contribute usefully to the team.

He’s a good boy, intelligent, and he adapts quickly, ” Utaka said of Akor Adams to French news outlet L’Équipe .

” He wants to progress. He knows his role here.

“He knows that his work will be useful to the team. If he is aware of it, that is the most important thing,  the 41-year old former Lens and Portsmouth forward said.

Utaka’s thought is echeod by the agent of Akor Adams, Atta Aneke.

Atta Aneke scouted Adams as a youngster in Nigeria and facilitated his move to Europe via Norway.

The agent said; ” In  Nigeria, young players are hungry to succeed. Of course it’s hard for them at first because of the cold, but everyone I met took it as a chance […]

” The positive thing with Akor is that he believes very strongly in everything he does. He always tells me.

“That’s the plan, we’re going to do it.” » He is sure to succeed, ” Aneke said.

The 23-year-old striker has scored seven goals in 11 appearances for Montpellier, and he currently sits second on the goalscorers’ charts six goals behind PSG star Kylian Mbappe.

Already, there is reported interest from Italian giants AC Milan but the 23-year old who is eyeing a Super Eagles call-up is comfortable and savouring his summer choice.

“I am happy with my current situation and where I am. It’s a good environment to grow as a young player,” Adams said per Allez Paillade.

“I have everything I need here in Montpellier. I’m happy with my decision to come to a club that takes good care of me. I have a very good group around me. I am satisfied.”
