Jordan Torunarigha dumps Germany for Super Eagles

KAA Gent defender Jordan Torunarigha has decided to declare for the Super Eagles of Nigeria over Die Mannschaft of Germany after deliberation, the 25-year-old has announced.

Former Germany youth international Torunarigha, who plays alongside Super Eagles hopeful Gift Orban in the Belgian club, has announced his decision to switch allegiance to the Super Eagles, citing discussions with the coach and the officials of the NFF as the reason for his decision.

The former Hertha Berlin defender represented Germany across all age groups and featured in their Olympics squad in 2021. He was previously approached by the NFF in 2018 when Franco-German Gernot Rohr was in charge of the team, but he turned down the opportunity to represent the country.

Jordan is the son of former Nigeria international Ojokojo Torunarigha, who featured for the national team in the 1990s. He had Jordan when he moved to Germany and the defender has never been to Nigeria.

Jordan Torunarigha is a left-back but will have a tough time gaining a spot due to the presence of Zaidu Sanusi and Calvin Bassey, and the emergence of Rivers United star Ebube Duru.
