Jose Mourinho adds Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Antoine Griezmann list

Manchester United are reportedly interested in sealing the transfer of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and have made their interest known to the Borussia Dortmund forward’s intermediaries.

The Red Devils are looking to add a big-name attacking player to their ranks this summer after a difficult season that has seen them once again miss out on the Premier League top four.

Jose Mourinho brought in Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a free last summer, but the club have struggled for goals despite 28 in 46 games from the veteran Swede.

Aubameyang has been in sensational form for Dortmund once again, and continues to be linked with a host of top European clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain.

While it is claimed that the player himself would favour a move to Real Madrid over other offers, United have also initiated contact over a potential move for him this summer, according to L’Equipe.

Previous speculation suggests Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann is a priority target for Mourinho, but it seems the Portuguese is eager to keep his options open.

It could be that Aubameyang is second on United’s list of striker targets if their bid for Griezmann does not work out, with their potential lack of Champions League football perhaps making them a less attractive prospect to many elite players.

With that in mind, it makes sense for United to target as many players as possible for that key position, but winning the Europa League final could be crucial to bring in the names they want.
