Jose Mourinho to be named new Manchester United manager after FA Cup final?

Jose Mourinho will reportedly be announced asManchester United‘s new manager shortly after the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace at Wembley today.

The Portuguese coach, who has been out of work since getting sacked by Chelsea in December, has been heavily linked with the Old Trafford hotseat for some time.

There have been conflicting reports regarding United’s managerial situation and ongoing uncertainty overLouis van Gaal‘s job given that the manager has failed to guide the team to a Champions League spot for next season.

United had to settle for fifth place in the table, but they could still end the campaign with silverware if they beat Palace in London this evening.

According to Spanish newspaper AS, even if United win today, Mourinho will be announced as the club’s manager for the 2016-17 season after signing a pre-contract.

The report adds that an agreement was reached between Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes and United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward earlier this week.

It is also believed that the 53-year-old, who has won league titles coaching Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid, will earn £11.6m a season at United, and will also be given the same transfer budget issued to Van Gaal, who has spent £250m on players in two years.

The Dutchman, though, has maintained that he will be in charge next season as he has one year remaining on his current contract.
