Jose Peseiro hails ‘BRILLIANT’ Flying Eagles after win over Argentina

Super Eagles Head Coach Jose Peseiro has hailed as ‘BRILLIANT’ the performance by Nigeria’s Flying Eagles players in the win over Argentina at the FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Second half goals from Ibrahim Muhammad and Haliru Sarki were enough to seal a 2-0 Round of 16 win for Nigeria against tournament hosts Argentina on Wednesday night.

In celebration of the stunning win, Head Coach of Nigeria’s senior male team, the Super Eagles Jose Peseiro commended the youngsters for making the country proud in the Round of 16 win to go ‘onward’ to the quater-finals of the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Peseiro wrote on Twitter “Brilliant game today! Proud of our U20 team who fought valiantly and emerged victorious against Argentina. This is a testament to their determination, skill, and the spirit of Nigerian football. Onward to the quarterfinals.”

That victory by the Ladan Bosso tutored U-20 Eagles means Nigeria will be in the last-8 of this tournament for the first time since 2011.

The 2013, 2015 and 2019 editions ended in the last-16 for the West Africans, this years run of 3-wins from 4-games a testimony of the talents in the 2023 set.

Expectedly, Nigerians will be hoping to see some of the players from this squad graduate to the Super Eagles team.

Peseiro did launch the process with the invitation of goalkeeper Aniagboso and skipper Daniel Bameyi to the senior team in March.

At the U-20 World Cup, Nigeria will face the winner of the Ecuador Vs South Korea Round of 16 clash in the quater-final.
