Joshua seeking 100 per cent KO record against Martin

Anthony Joshua is aiming to continue his 100 per cent knockout ratio against reigning IBF World Heavyweight champion Charles Martin in their title fight at the O2 Arena on Saturday.

Since turning professional in 2013, Joshua has won all 15 bouts of his career by knockout.

He will be aiming to depose Martin, who has held the title since beating Vyacheslav Glazkov after the belt was stripped from Tyson Fury and possesses a record of 23 wins and one draw from 24 fights.

Despite having less professional experience than his opponent, Joshua is confident he can maintain his record at the O2 Arena.

“I’m looking to carry on my knockout ratio come Saturday,” he said.

“When it comes to these big heavy-hitters we don’t play games, we’re here to go to war. We’ve just got two generals in the ring and the best army wins.

“I want this and I’m ready to swim through deep waters to take him out.”

Joshua admitted he may find it difficult to take a measured approach against the defending champion.

Asked whether he will be able to control his emotions in the early rounds, he replied: “Probably not. I’ll probably go out and try to take his head off.

“You know what I’m like, I’m a fighter. I’m going to walk through two to give him five. That’s just how it goes, I’m coming for him.”

Martin has no concerns about a potential advantage Joshua may gain from the fight taking place in London.

“I don’t consider that everything is in his favour. The O2 Arena – that’s my arena. I’m comfortable everywhere I go, that isn’t anything new,” he said.

“I love what I do, I’m a performer. When eyes are on me, I’m going to perform. I’m always here to prove the doubters wrong. When you doubt me, it’s fuel for my fire.”
