Jurgen Klopp linked with AS Roma managerial role

Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp may be returning to football management, according to reports from Italy.

Klopp, who left Liverpool a year ago, took a role as Head of Global Football at the Red Bull Group in October 2024 and officially started in January. However, reports now suggest he might leave that role to manage a club again.

Italian newspaper *La Stampa*, through *Football Italia*, says Klopp has agreed to become the new head coach of Roma.

The report claims that Klopp had earlier made a verbal deal with another club that was changing owners, but he chose Roma instead. It also says he has already asked for at least six new players to improve the team.

Current Roma boss Claudio Ranieri came out of retirement in November 2024 and has helped the team move from the bottom half of the table to a possible Champions League spot. He will leave after the final game of the season on Sunday.

Roma play Torino on the last day of the Serie A season. They are trying to move ahead of Juventus, who are just one point above them in fourth place.

Chelsea’s manager Enzo Maresca had also been linked with the Roma job, but his future at Stamford Bridge is still uncertain.
