Kaduna United players shun training over eight month salary arrears

The players of Nigeria National League side, Kaduna United FC have embarked on a ‘no pay no play’ protest so as to seek audience with the club management for the payment of their salary arrears running into 8 months.

The club which is owned by Kaduna State government and managed  by Nigeria ex international Emmanuel Babayaro, we gathered  have not been paid since the commencement of the  league season and they players say they can no longer  continue with  the burden of playing with  empty stomach.

Sources close to the club yesterday disclosed that the players refused to  observe  their   routine  evening training and threaten not to honour their week 13 Nigeria National League match against Sokoto United without their salaries being paid.

A player who spoke to FreekickNaija.com  under the condition of anonymity expressed sadness over the current situation.

“You can’t imagine what we are passing through at Kaduna United.  Could you believe that we haven’t been paid a dime since the season started?  All we keep getting is promise upon promise that they would pay but when? ” queried the player.

“We have tried our best even though the promotion is not much in sight  but let  the
management do their part by paying our wages.
We are appealing to the state governor His Excellency,  Mallam Nasir Elrufai to come to our aid because the situation is unbearable”
Kaduna United placed third on the division A1 table with with 19 points.
