Kaizer Chiefs release Daniel Akpeyi and six others
Daniel Akpeyi has been released by his South African club after three years representing the Amakhosi.
The Super Eagles goalkeeper is one of the seven players released by the The Chiefs in a move to cut their expenses.
Recall, SportsRation revealed in February that the former Warri Wolves goalie could be one of the players who would be released by Kaizer Chiefs.
And today he and six others have been asked to leave the club.
According to reports from South Africa the club has been able to wipe off R25 million in player wages after confirming the departures of first-team players such as:
– Daniel Akpeyi
– Daniel Cardoso
– Samir Nurković
– Kearyn Baccus
– Lazarous Kambole
– Leonardo Castro
– Lebohang Manyama
Daniel Akpeyi was a regular player for Kaizer Chiefs but his decision to represent Nigeria at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon caused him his shirt and a spot in the team.
The 35-year-old goalie should be able to get a new club very soon.
