Kamaru Usman ends losing streak with victory over Joaquin Buckley

Kamaru Usman returned to winning ways on Saturday, defeating Joaquin Buckley by unanimous decision in their welterweight bout at UFC Atlanta.

The fight, which took place at State Farm Arena, saw the former champion and current No. 5 ranked Usman end a run of three straight losses.

Usman’s last fight had been in October 2023, and he stepped into the octagon against Buckley needing a win.

Buckley, ranked No. 7, came into the clash on a six-fight winning streak. His most recent victory was against former interim champion Colby Covington last December, when Covington was stopped by the doctor. Buckley had secured 15 of his 27 career wins by knockout.

However, Usman proved too strong this time, controlling the fight across five rounds. The judges scored the contest 49-46, 49-46, and 49-46 in favour of the Nigerian.
