Kanyinsola Ajayi Storms to NCAA 100m Title with Stunning Run

Nigerian sprinter Kanyinsola Ajayi produced a remarkable performance to win the men’s 100 metres title at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
Representing Auburn University, Ajayi crossed the finish line in an impressive 9.72 seconds to secure the gold medal and continue his rapid rise in world sprinting. Although the time was assisted by a tailwind of +2.2 m/s, slightly above the legal limit, it remains one of the fastest performances ever achieved by an African athlete.
The junior athlete exploded out of the blocks and quickly took control of the race. He maintained his speed through the middle stages before powering away from the rest of the field to claim a dominant victory.
Sprinter Jaiden Reid of the Cayman Islands finished second with a season-best time of 9.82 seconds, while American athlete Jelani Watkins took third place in 9.87 seconds.
Ghana’s Mustapha Bokpin also impressed by breaking the 10-second barrier, finishing sixth in 9.99 seconds.
The race ended on a disappointing note for another Nigerian athlete, Israel Okon, who appeared to suffer an injury during the final. Okon was seen holding his leg as he crossed the line and eventually finished ninth.
Ajayi’s victory adds another major achievement to an outstanding season and further strengthens his reputation as one of the brightest sprint talents in the world.
His latest success is also a boost for Nigerian athletics, which continues to produce top-class sprinters capable of competing on the biggest stages. With the NCAA title now in his collection, Ajayi has shown that he is ready to challenge the world’s best in the years ahead.
