Keen tussles expected as 2023 Akwa Ibom State Governor’s Cup Super 12 gets underway on Saturday
The 2023 Akwa Ibom State Governor’s Cup Super 12 will get underway on Saturday, November 4 with keen tussles expected.
Recall that after 147 preliminary round matches, twelve local government areas emerged from the three Senatorial Districts in Akwa Ibom State to participate in a Super-12 playoff that will lead to the emergence of the competition winner.
Following the draw ceremony on Thursday, November 1, the twelve teams were split in two groups from where the top-four in each will progress to the quater-final.
On Saturday, November 4, group A teams will trade tackles to get the Super-12 underway at the Uyo Township Stadium.
By 8am, Ikot Abasi will face defending champions Nsit Ubuim. Essien Udim and Ikot Ekpene will renew their senatorial rivalry by 10am before Urue Offong Oruko faces Uyo by 4pm.
All three games are expected to be keen tussles, as the teams push for a solid start to the round.
For a competition which witnessed 357 goals in the preliminary round, fans will be expected enterprising performances from this teams who emerged as the best four In their respective Senatorial Districts.
