Kelechi Nwakali recommended as ‘outstanding talent’
English Pundit Andy Symcox has urged other clubs to keep an eye on Nigerian midfielder Kelechi Nwakali ahead of the summer transfer window.
Nwakali has been having a strong season with Barnsley in League One, as they push for a playoff spot and look to get promoted to the Championship. With 16 games left, Barnsley are just six points behind sixth-placed Huddersfield Town, keeping their promotion hopes alive.
The 26-year-old has played in 16 matches this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist. Despite these modest stats, Symcox believes Nwakali is an underappreciated talent who deserves more attention.
Speaking to Football League World, Andy described Nwakali as an “outstanding talent” who is “flying under the radar.” He said, “Other clubs should seriously be looking at this young man.”
Nwakali, who joined Barnsley on a three-year contract, is tied to the club until the summer of 2027. Any club looking to sign him in the next transfer window would likely need to make a strong offer to convince Barnsley to let him go.
