Kennedy Boboye Set for Akwa United Return
Kennedy Boboye is on the verge of being announced as the new head coach of Akwa United, marking a return to the club where he enjoyed remarkable success.
SPORTSRATION can exclusively confirm that Boboye is in Uyo and has opened discussions with the Promise Keepers to take charge of the team. His return would see him reunite with the side he led to a historic Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title during the 2020/2021 season.
Boboye is set to replace Mohammed Babaganaru, who resigned following Akwa United’s poor start to the current campaign.
The experienced coach, who has also managed Sunshine Stars and Heartland in the NPFL, faces the immediate challenge of guiding Akwa United out of the relegation zone. The club currently sits 17th on the NPFL table with 19 points from 18 matches, despite a morale-boosting 2-0 victory over Heartland FC today.
Boboye’s return is expected to bring renewed optimism to the Promise Keepers as they look to turn their season around in the second half of the campaign.
