Kerr scores as Chelsea beat Spurs to reach FA Cup Semis
Chelsea Women are through to the FA Cup semifinals after a 2-1 win over Tottenham Women.
Sam Kerr opened the scoring just before halftime, heading Chelsea in front.
Spurs responded early in the second half when Eveliina Summanen’s cross slipped past goalkeeper Hannah Hampton to level the game.
The winner came late. 19-year-old Veerle Buurman struck in the 86th minute with a powerful finish to send Chelsea through.
After the match, manager Sonia Bompastor said:
“We will fight until the end to have as many titles as we can.”
“The FA Cup is part of the best memory I had in my whole career as a player and manager, being able to go to Wembley and play a final there.”
“It’s such a special moment. We’ll see the draw and who we have to play but will do everything we can to reach the final again.”
The result keeps Chelsea’s FA Cup run alive following their recent Champions League exit.
