Kevin De Bruyne to Leave Manchester City at End of Season

Kevin De Bruyne has confirmed he will leave Manchester City at the end of the current season, bringing to a close a remarkable 10-year spell at the club.

The Belgian midfielder made the announcement in an emotional open letter to fans on social media on Friday. He said, “Nothing about this is easy to write, but as football players, we all know this day eventually comes. That day is here—and you deserve to hear it from me first.”

De Bruyne, 33, joined Manchester City from German club Wolfsburg in 2015 and has since won every major trophy with the club. He said Manchester and its people changed his life completely.

“Football brought me here, chasing a dream I never imagined would change my life. This city, this club, and these people gave me everything. I had no choice but to give everything back,” he wrote.

He proudly stated, “And guess what—we won everything.”

De Bruyne also spoke about how much Manchester means to his family. “Suri, Rome, Mason, Michèle, and I are so grateful for what this place has meant to us. ‘Manchester’ will forever be on our kids’ passports—and more importantly, in our hearts. This will always be our HOME.”

He went on to thank the club, the staff, his teammates, and the fans, calling his time at City “the best chapter” of his career.

“We cannot thank the city, club, staff, teammates, friends, and family enough for this 10-year ride. Every story comes to an end, but this has definitely been the best chapter,” he said.

De Bruyne ended his message by asking fans to enjoy the final moments with him, saying, “Let’s enjoy these last moments together!”

Wearing the number 17 shirt, De Bruyne remains an important player for City as they push for more trophies before his departure.
