New York Knicks fire Derek Fisher

Derek Fisher has been fired by the New York Knicks, the team announced on Monday.
Fisher’s firing comes in the week of NBA All-Star break, which begins on Friday. He has led the Knicks to a 23-31 record, which is the fourth-worst in the Eastern Conference.
The team has been struggling lately, losing its last five and going 1-9 in the last 10 games. Fisher took some of the blame for the team’s rough starts after Sunday’s loss against the Denver Nuggets.
“I’ll take some responsibility for it – whatever is or isn’t happening – so that we’re ready to play right at the tip-off,” he said.
The former NBA player took over as head coach of the Knicks in 2014 and went 17-65 in his first season. He has a 40-96 combined record in his time with New York.
Kurt Rambis will serve as the interim coach.
