Kobe Bryant puts up 60, stars in final NBA game

Kobe Bryant left the NBA like he came in – with all guns blazing.

The 37-year-old scored 60 points as the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Utah Jazz 101-96 in what was his final NBA game.

His points total was the highest for any NBA player this season, but it came on 22-for-50 shooting.

It was his 25th time breaking the 50-point mark, having played 1,346 NBA games, while his 50 shots were the most taken by any player since 1993.

Bryant scored 17 straight points in the fourth quarter, including a 20-foot jumper with 31 seconds remaining, to help the Lakers end a tough season on a high note.

The Lakers gave Bryant a send-off to remember.

The game was played on a court designed with both of Bryant’s numbers, eight and 24, for the future Hall of Famer to play on.

Magic Johnson called him “the greatest to wear the purple and gold”.

The crowd was even more star-studded than usual, as Shaquille O’Neal, Jay Z, Snoop Dogg and a host of other celebrities joined Jack Nicholson and Co. to send Bryant off.

Bryant rewarded everyone with a show.

After the game he was swamped by former team-mates, including Rick Fox, Lamar Odom – and of course – O’Neal.
