Kwara United wallop Adamawa United to return to summit of NPFL

Enyimba, Kano Pillars, Akwa United win away from home

Kwara United returned to the top of NPFL in style with a 5-0 battering of Adamawa United at the Kwara State Sports complex in Ilorin. Stephen Jude scored a hattrick, the first of this NPFL season, and provided two assists in a glittering display by the Harmony Boys. Michael Ohanu scored a brace to cap off a wonderful performance.

Lobi Stars stunned Rivers United at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi, winning 4-1 to further plunge the Pride of Rivers into dismay. Kunle Odunlami put the ball through his own net to give Lobi Stars the lead, before Ossy Martins and Mathias Samuel scored to give them a commanding 3-0 lead. Fortune Omoniwari pulled one back for Rivers United before a second own goal from Fabian Nworie effectively settled the game.

Kano Pillars defeated Wikki Tourists 2-1 at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi thanks to goals from striker Nyima Nwagua and David Ebuka. Wikki Tourists pulled one back through Stephen Chukwude.

Akwa United picked up an important 2-1 away win against MFM in Agege. Mfon Udoh opened the scoring for the visitors before former Akwa United man, Paul Obata scored direct from a freekick to level matters for MFM. Ikechukwu Nwani scored a brilliant goal in the second half to secure the three points for the Promise Keepers.

Heartland were held to a 1-1 draw at the Dan Anyiam Stadium by relegation-threatened Warri Wolves, who picked up their first away point of the season. Efe Yarhere gave the Seasiders the lead, before Kingsley Maduforo scored to draw Heartland level and tie the encounter.

Abia Warriors kept up their good run of form with yet another win as they defeated Katsina United 3-1 at the Okigwe Township Stadium. Red-hot striker, Obioma Chukwuemeka opened the scoring for the home side, before Paul Samson and Fatai Abdullahi added further goals for Abia Warriors. Katsina United pulled back a consolation strike through Rasheed Ahmed from the penalty spot.

Enyimba marked their return to domestic action with an important 1-0 away victory over Sunshine Stars. Samson Obi scored the lone goal from a John Noble assist to give the People’s Elephant the three points.

Rangers International defeated Nasarawa United at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu with a measured performance. Two goals in the opening eight minutes of the game from Godspower Aniefiok and Chinonso Eziekwe were enough to settle the tie.

Dakkada FC defeated Plateau United 1-0 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo to extend their winning run at home to 4 consecutive games. Isaac George scored the lone goal in the encounter.

FC Ifeanyi Ubah and Jigawa Golden Stars played out a 2-2 draw to extend both their winless runs to five games in the NPFL. The Anambra Warriors took the lead through Chinemerem Igboeli before Andrew Idoko drew the visitors level early in the second half. Christian Molokwu put FC Ifeanyi Ubah in front again before another equaliser, this time from Ali Musa ensured that the game ended level.
