Kylian Mbappe scores first-ever hat-trick at the Bernabeu as Real Madrid bundle Man City out of Champions League
Kylian Mbappe scored his first-ever hat-trick at the Bernabeu to help Real Madrid reach the Champions League last 16.
The European champions won 6-3 on aggregate, after a 3-2 victory at the Etihad Stadium and a 3-1 win at the Bernabeu.
Mbappe’s first goal came from a delicate lob, his second came with brilliant footwork that left Josko Gvardiol behind, and he completed his hat-trick with a fantastic left-footed shot.
Manchester City, who were controversially denied a penalty by VAR, scored a late goal when Nico Gonzalez tapped in from close range.
Real Madrid will face either Bayer Leverkusen or local rivals Atletico Madrid in the last 16, with the draw to be made on Friday.
At full time, it was clear that Real Madrid were in control, with Mbappe taking the match ball and proving once again why they are called the Kings of Europe.
