Kylian Mbappé set to acquire majority stake in Ligue 2 club Caen

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé is on the verge of becoming a football club owner, with reports indicating that he is close to acquiring major stakes in Ligue 2 side Caen.

The French publication Le Parisien has revealed that Mbappé will pay just under €20 million for the majority shareholding, making him the principal owner of the club.

Mbappé, who has been among the highest-paid footballers since his rise at Paris Saint-Germain, is channeling some of his considerable wealth into this new venture.

The acquisition of Caen is especially significant given that the club was once interested in signing him as a youth. However, Caen’s relegation to Ligue 2 at that time meant they were no longer in contention for the young star.

Under the deal, Kylian Mbappé will hold the majority of shares, while French film producer Pierre-Antin Capton will retain the remaining shares, valued at approximately €5 million.

This purchase represents only a small fraction of Mbappé’s financial assets, especially following his recent high-profile transfer to Real Madrid, which included a substantial signing bonus of €100 million.
