Steve Kerr confirms Warriors granted Lakers permission to interview Luke Walton
Steve Kerr revealed the Golden State Warriors have granted the Los Angeles Lakers permission to talk to Luke Walton.
Warriors’ assistant coach Walton, 36, played with the Lakers from 2003-2012, helping the team win back-to-back NBA titles in 2009 and 2010.
He led the Warriors to a 39-4 start this season while filling in for Kerr, who missed time because of back surgery.
“We told [Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak] he’s perfectly welcome to talk to Luke as soon as this series is over and we have a little break,” Kerr said.
The Lakers are looking for a replacement for Byron Scott, who was fired on Sunday.
The Warriors are through to the next round of the NBA play-off series where they’ll play the winners of the Blazers and Clippers tie, Blazers lead the series 3-2.
