Lamine Yamal shines as Spain beat France to reach Euro 2024 final
A sensational goal from 16-year-old Lamine Yamal helped Spain come from behind to beat France 2-1 in Munich and secure their place in the final of Euro 2024.
Yamal became the youngest player to score at a European Championship or World Cup, breaking the record previously held by Brazil legend Pele. He shifted the ball onto his left foot and curled a stunning shot in off the post from 25 yards in a thrilling first half that saw Spain lead against France 2-1.
France had taken the lead earlier when Randal Kolo Muani headed in a beautiful cross by Kylian Mbappe, who was playing without a mask after recovering from a broken nose.
Yamal’s brilliant strike changed the momentum in Spain’s favor. Soon after, Dani Olmo fired a low shot into the net off defender Jules Kounde, following excellent control in the France box.
France tried to respond in the second half but struggled against Luis de la Fuente’s side. Mbappe had their best chance but fired over the bar in the closing stages.
Spain, inspired by Yamal, will now face the winner of England’s semi-final against the Netherlands in Sunday’s final. They have become the first team to win six consecutive games in European Championship history.
Yamal, who scored the dazzling equalizing goal, has made a significant mark in the record books and is sure to be key in Spain’s quest for their third European Championship title.
