Las Palmas spoil FC Barcelona 125th anniversary celebration
FC Barcelona’s struggles continued as they lost 2-1 to Las Palmas at home, marking their second defeat in three Spanish La Liga games.
The Blaugrana, who were hoping to celebrate their 125th anniversary with a win, now find themselves under pressure at the top of the league table.
Despite a stunning goal from Raphinha, Barcelona failed to capitalise on their chances. Former Barcelona player Sandro Ramirez opened the scoring for Las Palmas in the first half, delivering a blow to his old club.
Later in the second half, Portuguese striker Fabio Silva added another goal for Las Palmas, sealing Barcelona’s fate.
The defeat is a major setback for the Catalan side, who have now dropped eight points in their last three matches. This poor run of form has put their position at the top of LaLiga in danger.
Rivals Real Madrid are just four points behind and still have two games in hand, giving them a strong chance to overtake Barcelona.
