Lebron James agrees new Lakers deal
Veteran Basketballer LeBron James has agreed to a new two-year contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The deal is reportedly worth $104 million and includes a no-trade clause.
The signing strengthens the possibility of LeBron sharing the court with his son in the future.
The 39-year-old James remains among the league’s highest earners, averaging $51 million annually. This places him alongside players like Joel Embiid, Nikola Jokic, and Kevin Durant. Stephen Curry currently holds the top spot for salary cap hit at $55 million.
With this contract extension, James is projected to reach a career total of $583 million in NBA salary by the end of the 2025-26 season.
LeBron James, often nicknamed “King James,” is widely considered one of the greatest basketball players ever. He has won the NBA Championship four times (2012, 2013, 2016, and 2023), is the NBA’s All-Time Leading Scorer, and has been named NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) four times. Additionally, he is a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist, known for his all-around skills including scoring, passing, athleticism, and playmaking.
In a historic moment for the NBA, LeBron and his son Bronny became the first active father-son duo in league history when Bronny was drafted in 2024. The new contract with the Lakers not only cements LeBron’s future with the team but also keeps alive the dream of playing alongside his son on the same NBA court.
